Faroe Islands associated to Horizon Europe

Categories: News

The Faroe Islands and the European Commission have concluded formal negotiations on a protocol which ensures association of the Faroe Islands to Horizon Europe. Furthermore, a new Multi Programme Agreement has been agreed upon which allows the Faroe Islands to join all EU programmes open to non-EU countries.

The Faroe Islands have had association agreements with the European Commision on participation in EU R&! Framework Programmes since 2010.

The financial terms in the new agreement have been adjusted to assure a better balance between costs and benefits.

The new Multi Programme Agreement is an important step for the Faroe Islands in extending the cooperation with the EU. The agreement enables the Faroe Islands to participate in any EU programme open to non-EU countries. It is expected that the Faroe Islands will join the Erasmus+ and the Creative Europe programmes, and others might follow.
