European funding

The Faroe Islands have been an associated country in European research programmes since 2010. As an associated country the Faroe Islands have the same rights and obligations as EU member states and other associated countries.

Horizon Europe

Horizon Europe is the EU’s key funding programme for research and innovation with a budget of EUR 95.5 billion.

The programme facilitates collaboration and strengthens the impact of research and innovation in developing, supporting and implementing EU policies while tackling global challenges.

Faroese researchers, innovators and research entities can participate in the programme on equal terms with entities from the EU Member States.

Research Council Faroe Islands hosts the National Contact Point service (NCPs) in the Faroe Islands which  provides applicants with advice and personal service.

Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic

The Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic programme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and non EU partner countries.

The programme addresses special challenges facing peripheral and remote communities in the Arctic and North Atlantic region.
